This is one of the pictures I’ve created with Artrage. Hope you like, it was fun to do.

Little Beggar
Posted by admin - Tuesday, September 16th, 2008
I painted this little birdie in Artrage. Since my tablet is still broken, I was forced to use my track pad. Boy, I sure miss my tablet. I was able to do this just barely with index finger and thumb and my finger was all cramped afterward. I have a replacement tablet and pen coming today, so I look forward to being able to use it again.

Okay, I am loving this art program called Artrage2. It is one of the coolest and easiest to use, not to mention cheapest program I have ever come across. It is so fun, it makes me feel like being a kid and picking up a crayon for the first time. I can scribble with my digital crayon, and it looks the same as if it were on paper, only brighter, cleaner. I have been playing with this program for a few months, drawing pictures, playing with textures, using layers and stencils, and every day I learn something new about it. Anyway, here is my latest drawing using the program and a wacom tablet. (the same wacom tablet that in a prior post coffee had drenched it.) No it isn’t working yet, but the guy I gave the other tablet to is trying to fix it.

Island Girl – Illustration Friday
Posted by admin - Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Okay, I’m trying something new. There is a website called Illustration Friday and it has artists from all over the world illustrate a topic. They must interpret the topic however they choose. The topic this week is ‘Island’.
As an explanation to this picture, as soon as I saw the word, I thought of the phrase, ‘no man is an island’ and then I immediately finished it with, ‘but a woman can be’. I drew it freehand with a wacom tablet in Artrage 2.5, then I exported it to Photoshop CS2 and tweaked it with three different filters.
Here is my ‘Island Girl’.

Coffee is my enemy!
Posted by admin - Sunday, September 14th, 2008
Okay, no matter how much I love coffee, I have got to STOP drinking it around my computer.
It was a balmy Sunday, I was sitting on the couch. I had been working on some art on my tablet and computer. I had a cup of coffee on the table in front of me, but I wasn’t worried, my computer was in my lap. I started to get tired of drawing, and so shut my laptop and put it on the table with my tablet on top. I leaned my head back on the couch and closed my eyes. About 15 minutes later as I was nearing lala land, my son lets the terriers in who charge me on the couch. One of them jumps over my head, circles me and then runs back into the kitchen. Then the other comes running, taking a mighty leap for my face. Instinctively, I throw my hands out, shove the dog away, but he lands on the table where my coffee, my computer and my tablet are, dumping the coffee all over my tablet. Not the computer mind you, but the tablet. Now my tablet doesn’t work.
If it’s not one thing, it’s another. I just can’t win with these electronic mishaps! My husband dutifully dumped rubbing alcohol all over the insides to wash away the coffee, but as of a few minutes ago, it still didn’t work, so hopefully by tonight, it will dry out. Wish me luck!

Happy Anniversary Party Success!
Posted by admin - Thursday, September 11th, 2008
Well, the pictures I drew and painted for my grandparents party was a huge success. Seems none of my family knew I could actually draw well. I don’t think it did anything for my status as the black sheep of the family, but I did have one small pleasure in knowing that my shallow cousins presence and subsequent early departure was probably due to me. Gotta love it. Tee hee. Evil laugh time.
Anywho,
I’ve posted the pics below of the happy couple opening the gifts. I had fun doing them, but now I really need to work on some backlog pictures.
My grandpa posing with the picture of his 70 years younger self.
This is my lovely grandmother. The link to see the portrait up close is here.
That’s my grandparents, they were arguing on where to put the portraits when the picture was taken. I’m in the middle with my daughter (right) and my neice (left). They look like sisters when they get together.
Happy Anniversary to them!

Flies and empty cereal boxes
Posted by admin - Thursday, September 11th, 2008
I’ve been waking up early this past week. As in early I mean 9, 10 o’clock in the morning. That’s REALLY too damn early for me considering I go to bed around 4 a.m. It’s all due to this stupid little fly. I’m sure it must be a different fly every morning because I usually kill the offending critter before I go to bed. I cannot stand flies buzzing around my ears while I sleep, it wakes me up instantly. Especially if it lands anywhere on bare skin. I can feel its tiny little legs crawling on me and then that’s it, I can’t sleep anymore.
So, I get up, water the guinea pigs who’ve begun to squeak at me to let me know they need something…aren’t guinea pigs great, they squeak when they’re out of water or food. I stumble to the coffee pot to make my morning drink, trip over the enormous shop vac my kids have left in the middle of the kitchen floor. They have a bad habit of leaving things just any old place. And last night, as I was rummaging through the food cabinet, I noticed two boxes of Pops stuffed into a tight spot sideways. I pulled the top one out and there is barely a cup of cereal left, but for some unknown reason, my kids thought they might want to get at the cereal from both ends, so as I pull the box out, the other end opens, and out pours the cereal, all over my feet. Thus the need for the shop vac. I toss the cereal box away after yelling some obscenities about the double ended box and then pull the other pops box out, which happened to be empty. Empty but stuck back in the cabinet. There just happened to be another box underneath it, also empty. Okay, that’s it, who sticks three empty boxes of cereal back into the cabinet. Do they know I cannot shop if I can’t see an accurate representation of what food we have? If I see three boxes of cereal, I won’t buy more cereal, but if they are empty, they are just SOL. They do that with Pop Tarts boxes, those horrid little gummy fruit snacks boxes, soda boxes. It’s very disturbing. Anyone else with this problem?
