I am a self-taught artist from a family of self-taught artists. We all had a specialty under our belts, my father, even though blind in one eye, loved to sculpt and draw with pen and ink. My mother drew portraits in soft pastel and my sister was very good in pencil. I took what I learned from all three of them. I studied pen and ink, learning the stipple technique. I work with not only soft pastel, but oil pastel, enjoying the differences in the way the two mediums can work both apart and together, and I excel in pencil and colored pencil. I love working with these mediums and regularly combine them with several different techniques to get the best detail in my art.

People are my specialty. I try to catch the vibrance in every person I draw, that special something that represents just them, whether it's the crooked smile or the twinkle in their eye.
